Community Classes at the Portland prAna Store

We Are Back Offering Donation Based Classes!

VinYin Yoga from 9:30-10:30am at the prAna Portland Store, 635 NW 23rd Ave.

Every Second of the month Saturday

The first half of class (Vinyasa) is designed to establish a steady breathing rhythm, improve blood flow and circulation, and build strength and skill. Vinyasa means to link breath with movement in a special way to achieve a particular outcome. You will learn to let the breath guide your movement as the ultimate teacher.

The second half of class (Yin) will focus on deep stretches with long holds (1-5 min). You will be invited to relax and release any muscular contraction, working deep into the connective tissue. This type of yoga stimulates the parasympathetic nervous system response, naturally fostering relaxation and calmness. The combination of these two styles of yoga balances body, mind, and spirit, helping you take your yoga off the mat and into your daily life!

60MIN CLASSES | ALL LEVELS

This is a donation-based class with a suggested sliding scale donation of $5 to $15 on-site. Proceeds will support a local non-profit organization.

Following the class, participants will enjoy 30% off a same day in-store purchase.

Space is limited. Advance registration is required. RSVP today!

    with Tessa Tovar

    Saturday, January 8 | 2:00 – 4:00 PM

$45 Drop-In | 20% off for unlimited Heights Yoga members!

In this 2-hour workshop, Tessa Tovar will provide an introduction to the sister science of yoga; Ayurveda! It means the science or study of life. Ayurveda is India’s ancient health care system, allowing us to know our individual constitution (“Dosha” in Sanskrit). Learn to live in harmony with your unique constitution and practice the art of balance with the rhythm of the seasons as it pertains to nutrition!

This workshop is for you if you are ready to take control of your health! You will gain valuable insights into your nutritional needs and learn recipes for the winter season and your particular Dosha. The belief is that, nutritionally speaking, we are bio-individual beings with unique needs.

    THIS WORKSHOP INCLUDES:

    • (Pre Work) Dosha Quiz – Discover your Doshic (constitution)
    • Recipe and specific food ideas tailored to your individual Dosha
    • Recipe and specific foods for the Winter Season (“Vata’ in Sanskrit)
    • A seasonal Dosha practice to help you make it through winter – YES – each season has its own Dosha too!

    DECODING THE MYSTERY OF TANTRA

    SATURDAY, MARCH 9th | 1:00-4:00PM | COST: $40

Tantra became popularized as a branch of yoga in India around the 5th and 6th century A.D. Despite its harbinger as a sexual practice its roots and ritual run deep to the core of yoga and means to expand beyond limits. In this 3 HR workshop we will explore the history and the purpose behind Tantra. We will learn about the core elements of Tantra. We will have a Tantra based asana practice, which I think you'll find surprisingly familiar and accessible. We will learn to chant the Gayatri Mantra which is foundational to the lineage. We will sit in circle learn, and share with one another. This workshop is for you if you have an interest, inkling, nudge, or curiosity to learn more about Tantra. Whether you have no prior knowledge or have read some on the subject; this workshop is for all levels of learning, ages, and physical ability.

    WHAT TO EXPECT:

    • Arrive / Settle / Meet / Greet
    • History & Purpose of Tantra
    • Asana Physical Postures in Practice
    • Mantra / Meditation
    • Group Share / Lessons Learned
